Discussion Forum Directions (Please read carefully)-3

Note: You are required to post a response to each Module discussion question by Sunday night at 11:59 pm each week.

Here is an example of how to reference the textbook. The textbook is required for the course which is why you must reference it in ALL discussion forums. You must provide a full textbook reference at the end of each module discussion question, and include in-text citations in each module response. I have highlighted an in-text citation below in the answer. Please let me know if the directions are not clear, or if you require further explanation. In addition, let me know if you would like several more examples of in-text citations to use as a guide moving forward. I deduct five points off for each Module discussion that does not include an in-text citation. I also deduct five points off for not providing the full textbook reference at the end of each Module discussion response. Keep in mind that you may reference a website (must be approved in advance by me), but it must be in addition to referencing the textbook.

Example

Module 66 Discussion:

Students,

Are you aware of antitrust proceedings against a specific firm? If not, please research and find. What type of behavior was found to be illegal?

Are you aware of any antitrust court cases? If not, dicuss the Microsoft antitrust case by visiting http://www.usdoj.gov/atr/cases/ms_index.htm (Links to an external site.)

 Answer:

Antitrust policy involves efforts by the government to prevent oligopolistic industries from becoming or behaving like monopolies (Krugman & Wells page 653). In the case of United States vs. Apple Inc., Apple was charged with price fixing which the court found to be illegal. Apple worked with several publishing companies in attempt to monopolize the e-book market and charge higher prices. The court ruled that these publishers had to end any and all agreements they had that prevented selling e-books at a lower price than what they wanted.
